Viva Home

Viva Home is a shopping centre located along Jalan Loke Yew in the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. First opened in 1995 as Plaza UE3, it suffered a decline period and later was refurbished as Viva Home. The complex is located within walking distance to the Miharja LRT station.

History (As Plaza UE3):

Plaza UE3 or Plaza Uncang Emas, was constructed in 1995 and opened sometime around January 1996. It has Xtra Supercenter as its anchor tenant. Plaza UE3 featured an elevator shaft topped by a clock tower. Unfortunately, Xtra Supercenter suddenly wound up in early 2000, and marked the beginning of the decline period of the complex. Many shops were closed. Only a few managed to survive.
In late 2003, the complex was acquired by Danaharta and Hai-O Group. The complex was refurbished as MCC City (Malaysia-China Commerce). An influx of shops selling Chinese goods ie antiques, books, stationery, furniture and traditional Chinese medicine revived the complex, but not for long. A supermarket known as D-Choice Supermarket opened in the former premises left over by Xtra Supercenter. Unfortunately the supermarket closed in early 2007. The Chinese shops also begin to shut one-by-one. As of 2009, the complex is considered basically 'dead'.

Reopened as Viva Home:

In late 2008 the Kha Seng Group acquired the complex. The RM 2,000,000 refurbishment project of the complex commenced in June 2010.
After months of renovation work, the complex was successfully refurbished as Viva Home. The new complex took a different approach, that is, to create a hub for all home furnishing and interior decoration shops, at the same time providing restaurants and a hypermarket.
The complex opened on 15 April 2011, with Giant Hypermarket as the anchor tenant. The complex featured a cinema and a food court (currently under renovation) at the third floor. A number of restaurants opened at the ground floor, facing Jalan Loke Yew. A bridge was constructed to enable shoppers to walk to and from the nearby Miharja LRT station.
